Play Therapy

Virginia M Axline

What does it mean to use play therapy? Licensed clinicians use play therapy techniques to meet their clients where they are. Many theories and modalities of play therapy are in use all over the world today, with children, adolescents, families, and even adults. Those who wish to become credentialed and known as play therapy specialists may undertake the training and application process promulgated by the Association for Play Therapy (APT). More information on becoming a Registered Play Therapist ™ is on the APT website. APT has trademarked the term Registered Play Therapist and requires anyone using it to adhere to its guidelines.
